Dimension Differences between Twin Beds and Twin XL Beds

The basic difference is the length of the bed. Twin XL beds (84" length; 42.5" depth) are 4" longer than regular Twin beds (80" length; 42.5" depth).

This holds true for Twin beds that sit on the ground or for elevated beds like bunk beds or loft beds. Full size beds follow the same guidelines; they are simply 15" deeper than twin sizes. So, Full XL beds are 84" length; 57.5" depth.

Note that twin beds and bunk beds as well as full beds and bunk beds can easily be converted to an XL length by swapping out the bedside rails and slat rolls. So start with a standard size and change it as your child grows longer. That's the beauty of the Maxtrix System.
