Back to School FAQs

Back to School FAQs

It's that exciting time of year to plan their rooms for both K-12 and college learning. Check our Early Bird's Guide to get you started!

What furniture do kids actually need for back to school?

At minimum, a bed that supports good sleep and a dedicated spot to do homework. A loft bed with a built-in desk solves both problems in one footprint, which is why it's our most popular back-to-school pick for kids sharing a room or working with limited square footage.

Is a loft bed with a desk actually better than a separate bed and desk?

Yes, mainly for space. A loft bed with desk configuration frees up the floor space a separate desk would take, which matters most in smaller bedrooms or shared rooms. The desk, dresser, or bookcase slides in under the bed and can also be pulled out and used as standalone furniture later. Learn more about how to create the perfect custom kids bed.

What size loft bed or bunk bed should I get for back to school?

It depends on age and room size. Twin works well for younger kids and tighter rooms, while Twin XL, Full, and Queen give older kids and teens more room to stretch out. Our Fit & Measurement Guide walks through exact clearances for each size.
