Dimension Differences between Twin Beds and Twin XL Beds
The basic difference is the length of the bed. Twin XL beds (84" length; 42.5" depth) are 4" longer than regular Twin beds (80" length; 42.5" depth).
This holds true for Twin beds that sit on the ground or for elevated beds like bunk beds or loft beds. Full size beds follow the same guidelines; they are simply 15" deeper than twin sizes. So, Full XL beds are 84" length; 57.5" depth.
No matter the size, all Maxtrix Twin, Twin XL, Full and Full XL beds are held to the same safety, quality and sturdiness guidelines. All are tested to withstand 800 lbs of weight, more than 2x US Safety Regulations. So, rest assure that 'bigger beds' are equally supported with solid hardwood frame construction.
Underbed Options Work for Both
With Maxtrix, no matter if you opt for a regular Twin/Full or Twin/Full XL length, the same under-bed options exist and work for both. From trundle beds that pullout when you need extra sleeping quarters (see Twin trundle beds, Twin XL trundle beds) to under-bed storage solutions, there is something for every size bed.
Convert to XL Bed Sizes Easily
Not sure if you want to jump into the XL length from the beginning? Note that twin beds and bunk beds as well as full beds and bunk beds can easily be converted to an XL length by swapping out the bedside rails and slat rolls. So start with a standard size and change it as your child grows longer. That's the beauty of the Maxtrix System.
